Bakewell parking.

I'm meeting a friend in Bakewell ton Sunday and we are doing a few miles with some hills to increase my hill climbing skills or should that be give me some hill climbing skills.

I'm driving over to meet him so looking for suggestions as to where I can park the car while I wear myself out.

There are pay and display car parks in and around the town

I park in Bakewell fairly regularly when doing the Monsal Trail, and you can normally enjoy free on-street parking up the top of Station Road near the old, err, station. Failing that, try along Coombs Road at the back of the showground.

We usually park next to the agricultural center round the back.

There is a massive car park right by the showground, which is perfect for the Monsall. No problems at all. (Except paying, of course.)

This is the one I use, right next to the town centre.

I use the one on the left just before you cross the bridge over the river and enter Bakewell itself. It's £5 all day and attended so your car is safe.

If you go straight out of the car park and up the hill leading away from Bakewell (past the golf club) it will take you the first part of the route of the Peak District Epic sportive, after a few miles you pass very close to Monsal Head and can get to it from there. The route will be on the website if you fancy a look.
