Hi ALL

been back into biking for just over a year now and am going to start cycling the commute, so looking to upgrade from the cheap & cheerful (crap) bike to something a bit more suitable for the task. also living close to richmond park would be good to have something that i can use in there.

after reading this, that and the other and a few tips from here and there i have narrowed it down to either
Cannondale Bad Boy 2008 Hybrid Bike which Evans is seling at £399

Boardman Performance Hybrid Urban Comp Bike Large '08 which Halfords is selling at £349

after reading a few posts on here more than a bit nervous abot buying anything from Halfords though!

thanks in advance for any tips, cheers

Hi,

New member here too.
I've recently bought the Boardman Urban Comp for £314.98 plus a free £10 off voucher (Halfords are currently offering a further 10% off all bikes) and it's a lot of bike for the money.
The main differences between the Boarman and the Badboy are the wheels (the Boardman has 700x28, the Badboy 26x1.5) and the brakes (the Badboy has v's and the Boardman has cable disc brakes). In terms of the rest of the kit, they're similarily specced.
I've never ridden the Badboy but comparing the Boardman to my Winter commuter (Carrera Subway 8, with 26x1.5 wheels), the Boardman is a lot faster and a hell of a lot lighter ! (24 lbs). I do find the thinner wheels a little harsh and I've ordered some Marathon Plus 700X32s, which will undoubtably give a more comfortable ride plus increased puncture protection.
As said, I think the Boardman is a bargain at the current price and I would recommend it 100%.
