Keep cycling and do more kilo metres more often. Sounds like your op has taken you for a washout maybe ?.

You may be fit, though gym fit and cycling fit are two different things altogether. The gym would kill me now, ask me to cycle 400km in 24 hrs, and I would have no problem

Three weeks off the bike isn't enough to have lost a significant amount of fitness, so I'd say you still haven't recovered fully from the op and (presumably) general anaesthetic.

Just take it a lot easier than usual and accept that you'll have to do shorter distances for a while. You'll soon be back to where you were before as long as you don't push too hard now and set your recovery back.

My climbing buddy had a back op, admittedly a big one, but seemed to recover pretty quickly. A year later though he told me he reckoned the op had affected him much more than he realised.
