Isn't it weird how when you first eat cheesecake as a child you think unto yourselves 'this doesn't taste like cheese' and that perception lingers for many, many years until you go to france or the US and eat decent cheesecake and then think 'hey, this doesn't taste too far removed from cheese'.

Why is the cheese bit in supermarket cheesecake getting worse? It's like a void between the jam and the shortcake.

I can only assume that the supermarket food scientists have realised that working class chavs don't have tongues capable of appreciating all 3 flavours / textures at once.

Its all down to pricing

You get what you pay for. If you buy an Iceland 12 serving job for £1 then you deserve everything you get. There are quality cheesecakes out there - better still make your own.

BTW same arguement applies to lemon merangue pies.

All baked cheesecakes are bad.

I do prefer the uncooked ones, we have a very nice family recipe for a lemon one, very light, which was my favourite pudding as a child. (close tie with chocolate cake, but cake and dessert are different things)

Cheesecake is my all time favourite, preferably strawberry. The difference in price makes a big difference, I once had some after a meal out in a good place, and it blew my taste buds away, so thick and creamy and heavy too, absolutely delicious. I was definitley spoiled there, as others dont compete well at all.
