Back Wheel Rubbing

Okay, I'm really sorry for the stupid question I'm about to ask but I'm stumped.

I've just changed the tube on my back wheel and re-attached the wheel to the bike. On checking that the wheel runs smoothly I've found it keeps rubbing at one particular point. The wheel is securly fastened so isn't wobbling.

Is it possible that

A) the inner tube is badly fitted and therefore too much air in one part of the tyre, I know that sounds completely Implausable but hey?
B) I haven't seated the tyre correctly and this is causing the issue.
C) the Wheel itself it slightly bent. I'm sure I would have felt this when riding.
D) Something Else?

I didn't have a puncture, I just wanted to practice changing the tube so that I could when I got an actual puncture, now I just wish I had left well alone.!

Thanks for any opinions that can be offered.

It sounds like one of a couple things. The first is that you may not have got the wheel seated right in the stays when you put it back on. Otherwise it could be that the wheel is slightly out of true (a little loose) and you may need to tighten the spokes in that area a bit.

Sounds like the wheel isn't sitting right. Try this first before you start messing around with other stuff.

If I have to remove n replace wheel, I always do it with bike upside down and just drop it in. Put something soft for the saddle and handlebars to rest on if it's a concrete floor.

That worked a treat. Thanks for the help.

Don't need to worry about resting on a concrete floor, I live in a flat and the Bike gets it's own bedroom, well it is part of the family.

Thanks.

buddy, I started a similar thread a few weeks back - i'd had issues with my back wheel as well. Everyone was really helpful, although one kind soul kinda implied that I was a bit thick. Turns out my wheel wasn't sat correct when I had put it back on. Having the bike upside down and putting the wheel back on that way sorted it

Well I thought I had fixed the problem, however at the end of todays ride I suddenly realised I could hear the rubbing again. I've just taken the wheel off to start the whole re-seating again and happened to touch a couple of the spokes that were really loose.

I checked them all and found 2 very loose spokes and 1 slightly loose.

I have a Specialized Sectuer and having read a few other threads this seems to be quite a common problem. I guess based on a post above this could well be the problem. I cant seem to get the spoke to tighten at all so I will have to take it to my LBS tomorrow and once I eat a lot of humble pie after buying the bike off the internet hopefully they will fix it!

Well just back from the lbs and they were brilliant. Wheel all sorted, apparently it had gone out of true??? So they fixed it sorted and sorted the spokes. All running like new now.

And whilst I was waiting the second mechanic took me through some simple maintenance I can do at home to keep the bike in tip top condition. All this for £10, and okay they sold me a couple of tools but I needed those any way really. Bargain.

Paul, the bike is a 2010 Sectuer, the entry level version, not sure which model, I purchased it new in March this year it has the Alexrims S500 wheel.
