Need help please ??, After going in and out of a pot hole yesterday, damaging the rim a little and getting a puncture, my back wheel only when pedaling is making a clicking noise, i swapped the wheel with a friends Wheel ( same bike) and the noise then came from his bike , so it could of only been the wheel and nothing else...We stripped the wheel down as best we could and as best as we knew how, took the cassette of and removed the bearings cleaned re-greased and put back together again.BUT same BLOODY noise....Fine when freewheeling but clicking when pedaling..any help would be much appreciated  ..

Any loose spokes? I've had them cause clicking noises before, about once every wheel revolution.

Does it have reflectors or the clear plastic disc to stop the chain going into the spokes? If so, one or more could be cracked and flapping against the spokes as you ride.

i have the same problem on bike with screw on cluster, the problem stops for a while if i backpedal. i do this about 4 - 5 times in ten miles. it is obviously inside the freewheel. i am gonna clean and soak it when i get chance, to see if i can cure completely. not that i am too tight to replace it, but want the experience of trying to fix it for future reference.
