pulling the bike out from the understairs cupboard this afternoon where its had 12 weeks in hibernation ready for an onslaught of starting to rack up a few miles building up to my 13miles each way Cycle To Work (when i'm up for it)....

What lube would people recommend I get to use of the chain, there's no LBS near me, so a trip to Halfords is on the cards in a couple of hours

Thanks all, as usual ;)

Halfords own brand 'dry lube' - comes in little bottles (black plastic normally), and probably in 'wet' and 'dry' types - it's all liquid, but different 'strenghts'. I just use the dry, normally has a red top. The wet (green top) is perhaps better is you anticiapte a lot of wet and muddy riding.

It seems pricy, for a little bottle, but you are sparing with it. You drizzle or squirt it on the chain, and the solvent evaporates leaving a coating, not too sticky.

The main 'branded' variety is Finishline, but I think the Halfords own brand is pretty much the same.

See if I care...

Honestly, I reckon the Halfords stuff is finishline in a plain bottle, just like Nabisco make Weetabix for all the supermarkets....

Note to OP. Don't use Weetabix on your chain.
