YAYYY!!!!!

I've been off the bike now for about 5 weeks? Did an epic 60 miler, which I wasn't ready for, up some BIG hills (Winster hill and Middleton top from Via Gelia!) and well....damanged my knee in the process (IT band?)

Lesson learned!!

So as a result I've not been able to ride and have been sulking in a corner for 5 weeks!! I tried to get back on last week and no, still hurt

Today, I thought I'm gonna try a small ride. On I popped and did my original 5 mile ride (The one I did on my first ever go on the bike!) I had a very slight twinge on the one and only hill - it's a very slight hill but goes on for a while and whilst I could feel the knee it wasn't 'pain'. Hurray for being back on the bike!!!:biggrin::biggrin::biggrin::biggrin::biggrin::biggrin::biggrin::biggrin::biggrin:

Now...I changed the set up of the bike. I pulled the cleats further towards the heel on my shoes. I pulled the seat back so now when I sit on the bike with my front foot forward and the crank parallel to the floor a plumb line goes from the front of my knee directly to the ball of my foot (as suggested by a biking pal) BUT....When I sit with my hands on the hoods instead of the spindle (axle of the front wheel? dunno what it's called!?) being obscured by the handlebars, the handle bars are 'in front' of the spindle/axle? I don't think this is right? Any tips??

Cheers

The guide is the axel is obscured by the bars - but it's a guide - depends upon if you 'get on' with the stretched position, if not, get a shorter stem. Saddle set back - i.e. knee and plumb line are correct.
