Yep, another freakin' light thread. Must be the time of year. Wish I'd paid more attention to previous threads on the issue.

I'm after a decent front light, preferably rechargeable for commuting all through the winter and doing a couple of post work rides a week of up to about 2 hours on mostly unlit roads. Budget up to £150.

After alot of looking I've narrowed it down to the following (reasons included)

Ay-up roadie - nothing but good reviews here.
Niterider MinEwt - Great reviews in the press (Top Velo gave it a 9/10 among others)
Hope - Not sure what I'm looking at here but they are good quality and are in stock at the LBS, where I get a 10% discount.
USEJoystick Maxx - another one with good magazine reviews.

Any other recommendations that might fit the bill willingly recieved. Aim is to get the purchase made before the clocks change.

TIA

On that budget, I think my choice would be a pair of the Busch & Muller Ixon IQ Speed lights - they look the dog's wotsits.

Get the AYUP Roadie Kit. well worth the money.
Their customer care/after sales service has been excellent in my experience.

got the joystick and it's as good as its advertising

I'd guess that the next one up is well worth it if you can afford it

Thanks very much chaps. Chuffy, a mate of mine has some Lumicylces which he highly recommended to me last night so I'll check them out.

From what you all say and what I've seen doing a bit of searching, I'm in a competitive price bracket and it'd be difficult to go too far wrong (and I'd hope so at the price!).

Now for an intensive round of head scratching as I make my final decision.I'd normally do the thinking on the bike but as it's sheeting down here I think I'll get another pot of coffee on.

Another option is to get two Fenix P3Ds or L2Ds, and mount them with twofish lockblocks. They are a really bright light too, Chris N and I were on the Dun run, with roughly similar setups, and we were amongst the very brightest setups there. Riding side-by-side it was like being in a car, brilliant!
