axle with bolts that are stuck!

my rear wheel is a bolt-on with a 7 gear cassette and is currently off the bike.

the bolts are well and truly stuck and i need to take the axle apart so i can replace it with a quick release.

does anyone have any ideas about doing this? i don't mind being brutal. the only thing i want to keep intact is the cassette.

Bolts? No you mean nuts?

Are you trying with a properly sized spanner?

If you have an axle that needs nuts to do up and you want to replace with quick release, you will probably need a new hub. If it is a fairly standard wheel with nothing special on it, you might as well go for a new wheel.

Have a look at this, which nuts are you having trouble with, do you have the cone spanners, thin spanners which will actually grip on the flats of the cones and allow you to put another spanner on the locking nut.

If you think you will kill it if you push it to hard lube it with penetrator spray if that is a no try the most runniest oil you can find and leave it over night.

just cut through the nuts and or axle with a hacksaw
