Found a darned slow puncture right by the valve.... Off centre and almost on the sidewall but within an inch of the valve seating, so in the pinched part of the tube (IYSWIM).

Figured that it would be a 'chuck it' placing for teh hole? Rather than a repair that close ot the valve; patch may even by right up to the base of the valve if I do.

Gut feeling is 'Bin'?

Anyone any thoughts?

Thanks as always....

If any part of the patch isn't going to be on a "clear" bit of the tube, I bin it. It's probably not strictly necessary, but I really don't like fairy visits out on the road.

I manage to repair, with considerable skill and effort I might add, a puncture about 1/8" from the valve. I carefully cut out a ring of patch and fitted it as a collar round the valve. I was already at my destination, after a long push, and was regailing someone on my great skill, when I was interrupted by a loud "pshhhh". Hadn't even ridden it after repair!

I always carried a spare tube after that.

Bin it !

Having had multiple failure of patches 3 minutes old, 3 days old, 3 weeks old and 3 years old in the past I replace all tubes now and only carry a repair outfit for the day I run out of tubes. As it is I carry at least one per wheel all of the time.

Thanks chaps - binned!

Was out of tubes so (please don't whip me) I popped in to Halfords as convenient and got 3 for 2 on their Conti tubes Thanks God as I went for a ride today with my new tube on back wheel, new spare tube in pocket and heard rubbing; simply brake blocks touching post replacing rear tube!

2 miles down the road and guess what? Yep - front wheel hissing at me; initially thouhgt rubbing block again but obviously NOT!

New HAlfords Conti tube on front and repair kit in pocket just in case but decided to continue out anyway.....

I don't think I will ever go for more than a short ride without a spare tube - and no more than 10 miles without 2 of the damn bu66ers.

WIll check today's tube but think it is more than 18m old anyway so may bin that as well just to be safe
