Avid BB5 Brake Pad Recommendations

Now then, Semi Metallic, Ceramic Hard, Ceramic Pro, Sintered or Kevlar ??????

I have no idea on what all of those mean

I go for the semi metallic.
They do well for a 35 mile round SE London, all weather commute.
They last about a year.

Yeh mine are for my boardman cx too.
I've done just over 1600 miles and they feel really bad lately

I've been using them for a good while now and have no complaints. The website is a lot less confusing than discobrakes and you usually get a bag of haribo

Ordered 2 pairs of these to replace the "standard" ones on the Boardman. Cheers for the recommendation.

Fitted these on Tuesday and rode the bike in today. Lovely! No more squeal and about a 50% increase in stopping power. At £5 a pair it does make you wonder why Boardman don't put these in as standard, rather than the "squealing horrors" that they do put in though!!!

Yeh i think I went for the semi metalic in the end.
Took a while to bed in and they felt quite spongy to begin with but there ok now.
