Round here it’s either straight up hill or straight down out of the door.
Using the bikehike site a ten mile loop I ride show up as having 980 feet of climbing which is about average for here. Almost 100 feet up per mile travelled. BUT if I also come back down to where I started, the descents being equal to the climbs, does that mean that I’m actually climbing nearly 200 feet per mile travelled? It bloody feels like it…

We've talked about this before.

If the hill does NOT have a chevron on the OS map, it's FLAT !!

One chevron - you are allowed to use your smaller chainring.

Two chevrons - where's my triple???

We don't do "Flat" in Huddersfield.

The only bits that don't slope are Lakes.

Well I got up Holme Moss on a 22.5 lb Peugeot with 38 x 23 lowest !!

Everywhere else was flat. ;) Or 'Little bumps'....

No there's bugger all flat round here. Would be nice sometimes to nip out and do thirty easy flat miles fer a change.

Not tried Holme Moss just yet. Up to Emley Moor is enough at the mo. 50lb dutch city bike with seven speed hub gears. Gonna fly up there when I get my light roadie come spring!
