On quite a few of my rides I have been registering an average cadence of around 100 rpm and a maximum cadence of around 200 rpm.

How fast do others spin?

That sounds very fast. Ive always been one to vary my cadence pedalling fast when I need to Maxing around 120 - 140 and freewheeling at other times. I don't often bother with the cadence meter but on my own rides (where I tackle more hills) I seem to vary between 65 and 80 (usually around 70rpm) and with the club its a bit more consistent; I'm doing around 88-92 rpm.

I usually have a cadence of between 90 - 95 (not going up hills though) but some people are comfortable with less so I think that each person can find their own range and stay with it. A cadence of 200 is way above anything I could achieve and I suspect most other people as well!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

200? I suspect that when you're coasting your crankarm is hovering around the cadence sensor. Mine always tells me i have a max cadence of 200, but it's not true. My average is around 85, but i should try getting that closer upto 90.

I aim for between 80 and 100 on my geared bike but I have been as low as 50 in my bottom gear crawling up a local hill at 5mph :S.

Have been up to 150 on my fixed gear bike. Couldn't imagine a cadence of 200 though, my legs would probably fall off!

used to be about 85. then i moved puter to new bike and the cadence sensor wouldn't attach to the crank correctly enough to give a reading. so i removed that bit of the puter.

I just try to pedal hard enough to leave me slightly short of breath without my legs feeling like they are walking through treacle.

you get a feel for whats right, a bit like the old friction shifters on "racers"

Max of around 200 was probably an anomaly. However when left to my own devices I will average around 100-110rpm naturally & anything up to 120rpm if I'm really pushing on (same rpm on the flat but I'll be keeping the rpm high on the inclines as well). This is the average cadence while pedaling, if you look at my average over the ride including coasting it's probably 5-10rpm lower.

Varies between 80-100 - 75-80 uphill and 90+ for flats and downhills

For me, riding a bike needs to feel comfortable and natural - too high or too low a cadence just doesn't feel natural.

Very similar story to me, though I usually average around 75-80rpm on my own, depending on route/climbs etc.

I normally average about 85 - I think the key thing is that it is an average - if I view the trace my cadence when cycling normally is usually in the regoin of 90 - 100 and sometimes a little higher with something like 20min freewheeling in 2 hours which I am quite happy with

Since most of my cycling is done through busy streets of london with many traffic lights, my average is around 85rpm. But on a weekend ride out of the city it's more 100rpm. With my max being 180rpm, i have no problem spinning up ;)
