I am thinking of replacing my touring frame with an Audux frame because I think it may be a bit livelier and enjoyable to ride so can I ask whether this would prove to be the case. And if you do what steel frame would you recommend.

Depends on your budget .... If you can afford it, get a custom frame built, frame prices start around a grand and you can have any kind of bike you want!

Given your location, but depending on your budget, go have a titanium oriented chat with the nice chaps at Enigma

Otherwise, have a look at the genesis Equilibrium, my frame and forks were under £500 a couple of years ago
