Attaching posters to Sheffield Stands

My local town council has given the cycle campaign group permission to attach signs to its cycle stands. We offer relaxed group rides and regular free Dr Bike sessions. I suggested zip tied laminated posters, but they wanted something more "sturdy" so our chairman has got some quotes for "5mm foamex board" signs. I have a couple of questions for you all.

  1. Can you think of a better way of attaching signs to sheffield stands than zipties?
  2. Do you think a sign attached to the middle of standard sheffield stand would impede use of the stand?
Thanks!

1. Reusable zip ties

2. Yes if too big. Could you sticker the stand or put a poster up nearby?

Hello @mjr  I think Mr Chairman already suggested reusable zipties, sorry I forgot to mention that.

The appeal for me was that if it's actually on the stand A: the town council don't have to physically install anything extra and B: Everyone locking up a bike is bound to see it.

Would an A4 sign attached with the short side against the bar (portrait) of the stand really cause an issue? If it's on zipties the user can move it along the sheffield stand anyway.

I wouldn't think so, if there are no sharp edges left on cut ties or anything.

Something filling the top of the hole would have caused people difficulty, for example.

Anything that impeded my use of a Sheffield stand would likely get my size 11 through it, and I'm probably more restrained than many. That being the case I sadly don't see them lasting a morning.

It is wonderful when you feel able to share your more sensitive and caring side, here.
