whats better for the winter. Short sleeves and shorts with arm and leg warmers or a long sleeve top and leggings ?

Oooh, I'd like to know too. At the moment I don't feel ready for lycra ALL down the legs, so I'm thinking of cheap tracksuit bottoms over my shorts. Any opinions?

I'll soon be digging out my Altura winter cruiser tights, nice and fleecey but not skin tight like some other cycling tights
Long sleeved shirt as it's unlikely to warm up during winter rides.

As long as I breathe, I attack.
Mid winter its long sleeve base layer over SS jersey + windproof,on the bottom half its ss shorts + running leggings over the top.
Went out today with a gilet over a SS jerey with arm warmers and i was to hot although i was giving it the beans.

Depends how cold. For the winter proper I prefer bib longs, baselayer and a long-sleeved jersey, sometimes with gilet or windproof depending on temperature. Arm and legwarmers when it's chilly but not bastard cold.

I am currently using arm and knee warmers. Will probably get some leg warmers too so I can wear shorts with them and need to do a load of cycling washing less often.

Might also wear knee warmers with tights on really cold days, but I do mean properly cold.

Today I had a base layer short sleeved top with arm and knee warmers. I try to keep knees warm and my arms don't do much so don't really warm up. Torso gets plenty warm. You can always take arm or leg warmers off if you get too warm.

The weather seems to be getting very chilly. We haven't had a warm day here in weeks, it's mostly just bitter wind and rain now and a horrible combination of both! I think I'll be needing something more than shorts and a short sleeve jersey, any suggestions?

I wore my leg warmers I got from Lidl today for the first time, with my bib shorts and a short sleeve top.I did have my arm warmers in one of my pockets just incase I needed them, but i didn't.Not bad for the money, not sure if I will use them when it gets really cold as I have full length trousers and a jacket.

agree with jazloc, here, its been baltic up here for a while now, today was full length tights, base layer (long sleeve), short sleeve top, topped off with a waterproof jacket, full finger gloves. can't see much change out of that combo for the next few months! Bah!
