Are these BB interchangable? (Shimano)

Hi, I'm replacing my "Shimano BB-RS500 bc1.37x24 road (Tiagra)" BB. I noticed for a few £s more I can get a Shimano Ultegra 6800 Bottom Bracket - https://www.chainreactioncycles.com...rAp9t2K1KyWng0R9ZyRoCjoQQAvD_BwE&gclsrc=aw.ds

Will that work just the same?

Yes, they are interchangeable, but not sure what advantage the Ultegra version will give except maybe a small weight saving?

Tiagra version only £17ea at Spa Cycles. Just ordered/received a couple myself this last week.

Well mine has only lasted 12 months (and others reporting similar) so I am keen to "upgrade". Spa cycles £21 when postage added so only £3 in it. Duno just thought for less than the cost of a pint I'd upgrade if I could.

How long things last is like a length of string. Lots of variables.

Depends upon what you want to spend, and if it's a 'little' more then might be worth a go - you'll not notice though. Is the colour correct though ? That's more important.

It's better lol. The bike and components are black

Could be worth a go as just a few quid extra. If you can be bothered you can replace just the bearings.

Very good, when my SRAM GXP BB wore out, the replacement was grey - black not available. Didn't match the black components, so purchased a Praxis one, a third more, better quality, but it was black.

Who only orders one hollowtech BB at a time?

I ordered 2, plus a 10 spd chain, plus an 11spd chain, oh and an 11-32 cassette. These 'extras' are just to replace the spares I have used recently and took me well into the free postage limit

The primary question for me would be, are the bearings within the Ultegra BB the same...or better than the Tiagra.
The rest is just a few grammes of weight and aesthetics. In short it might be an Ultegra won't last any longer...if it has the same bearings within.

As Cycleops suggests, you can (i have in the past) replace the bearings in the shells if you have the ability (in my case i retro fitted some high quality bearings, the OEM ones are quite basic quality )
