I'd like to join a club of cyclists where I can perhaps discover enjoyable cycling routes and maybe meet other cyclists to gain tips and also for motivation. However, a browse around the local cycling club websites, I get the impression from the photos on they all ride road bikes. I ride an hybrid bike, am a relative beginner. Are there many clubs where people in my position and ability can join? Are most cycling clubs for road bike users?

Most are.

Try your local CTC group (find that on their web site), or try the Sky Rides or see if there's a local Sustrans group. All of those would run rides open to all, on any type of bike.

Look for your local Cyclenation group, if you have one. http://www.cyclenation.org.uk/groups/ - they don't all run rides, but the ones that do are more likely to be Easy Riders than the British Cycling clubs (which is usually what XYZ Cycling Club is). Failing that, CTC, Sustrans, Sky-phone-hackers-R-us Rides or look on local web forums, Facebook, Twitter and so on.
