...all pissed, stupid or just plain nasty? Or is it simply a lack of familiarity with cyclists?

I don't want to ride on the chuffin' cyclepath so don't tell me to...

I don't want you to overtake me whilst I'm riding along a street with cars parked on both sides so don't sound your horn at me.....

I don't want to be left hooked because you are too dull to comprehend that a bike might be going faster than walking pace.....

and I've only been here since yesterday.

Well, this seems like a suitable place to make my first post, hello everybody

I live in Pembrokeshire and to be honest rarely if ever have any issues, that's doing an average of 70 to 100 miles per week. I ride on the rural and the more major roads in the area and can count on one hand how many times I've been beeped or shouted at in the past two years and it's rare for me to have someone overtake me so closely that it feels uncomfortable. I do avoid going out when the ferries have just docked mind!
I've been lurking for quite a while and regularly look at the threads full of bad overtakes and abusive drivers and feel very fortunate to have encountered so few of them.
Maybe the sunny weather has pulled some extra tourists into the area, or maybe people are just a little hot and bothered.
Of course, I'll have the ride from hell on tomorrows commute now I've said that!

A Risky business riding on the roads these days! Some public awareness ad's on the television for the purpose of educating motorists to the fact that they are traveling in A LETHAL WEAPON! And should not be used on road cyclists!

Welcome to the forum Mugshot. (I'm typing this in Rosemarket!) It may of course have been my assertive style of riding that was hacking them off. Had no problems going to and from Milford y'day evening.

I shall be escaping on Saturday.

Mrs Collins' family comes from Montgomeryshire and I love riding around there. We lived, when our two kids, both Welsh by birth were tiny, on the Carmarthenshire/Cardiganshire border, and I love riding around there. But so far Pembrokeshire....? well I'm not feeling the love people, though the local bit of NCN4 is pretty good and the cyclecpaths by the sides of some of the main roads are quite good, and the Cleddau Bridge by bike is amazing.

and I had an SPD moment y'day for the first time in 10+ years.

Rosemarket eh Greg? A matter of minutes round the corner from me. Maybe I've just been lucky on my routes or maybe too in the zone to notice (my puffing and panting up the hills masks most other noise!)
You're right about the cycle paths, theres only a couple I'll use regularly but they all seem to be in pretty good nick, again, maybe we're blessed here as there doesn't seem to be the glass and litter strewn around as a lot of folk seem to mention.
If you're referring to the local cycle route down to the marina and up to Haverfordwest (I guess you are as you can get on at Rosemarket) then you're spot on it's very nice indeed.
I'm glad you enjoyed at least a little something in the area

What is with people getting off and pushing heading north out of Pembroke Dock.....? The hill up to the bridge isn't that steep surely?

Well, I,m yet to get off and push on any of the hills round here and I can do that one in the saddle, that's not willy waving on my account BTW and I don't have a triple, I agree its not that steep, however, you're in an area where people will catch a taxi to go from one end of the road to the other, seriously, so the fact that they're within 10ft of a bike is something of a result.

No matter where you are I think you just get days when every car driver seems to begrudge you existing.Other days no problems at all.

I get to Pembrokeshire now and then and usually take the folder to get a few miles in.Its single speed and I still manage to get up from Pembroke Dock onto the bridge.

Looking down the Haven from Cleddau Bridge.

Generally I havent found Pembrokeshire to steep (Im sure theres some gruellers I havent found yet) I thought tjhis place might be hard work but oddly it was fairly flat ???

I've lived here for ten years have found cycling to be virtually trouble free.

It's Paradise compared to Essex.

Where isn't?

I get the impression the local drivers would much prefer it if you didn't ride on the actual roads in Haverfordwest unless wearing a helmet. Or at least one of them was kind enough to ask me, at the lights by Tescos, why I wasn't wearing one this morning.

NCN 4 Rosemarket to Haverford double plus good.

Intend to do the stretch to Broad Haven on Thursday if I can get permission from my Dad to go out again on my bike.
