I bought my Trek 1.2 from Evans exactly a month ago.
Over the weekend one spoke fell out of place.

My bike had already been booked in for the free 4week service tomorrow at Evans. Should i insist its their responsibility to fix it or do i have to?

Mention that your not happy it has happened but dont bite the poor guys head off. I would expect this to be a warranty thing, but some would try fob you off saying its wear and tear or mistreatment so be cautious.

Follow up question.
I need to cycle approximately 8 miles to get it to the shop? is that a good idea or not with a broken spoke?

Spokes usually get a bit loose in the first month of using a new wheel which is why any good lbs will arrange for a quick service after a short period.

I got a new back wheel swapped out at Evans after the bike was about 5 months old, following 2 broken spokes. Luckily the guy who answered the phone was a sympathetic manager who blagged it on a warranty with Specialized (told 'em the bike was about 3 weeks old). Needless to say the new stock wheel pinged a spoke within 2 weeks  Got the LBS to fit a hand built Mavic and had no such issues since!

the answer is yes they will fix it under warranty.

The Evans here in Notting Hill gate has great customer service. very friendly and helpful staff. Bought a lot of stuff from there and always had the help and assistance and time i needed.

As long as the broken spoke is out of the way so it won't foul the gears or frame it is possible to cycle 8 miles. The wheel will be out of true and you may have to loosen the brakes off a bit, but I have ridden many miles on the Isle of Skye with a spoke gone before getting to a bike shop.
