Are all handlebar grips universal?

Hi all,

I've done a quick search and I think I'm correct, would just like confirmation please

Am I correct in saying any handlebar grips will fit any bars? The bar diameter is actually only increased in the centre of the bars that clamps in the stem?

Thanks!

I've never had a problem TBH, but what bike/bars have you got and what grips are you looking at?

BTW - when it comes to fitting new grips clean the bar, spray with hairspray and then slide the grip on quickly.

The hairspray initially acts like a lube and then dries to create a tacky interface that keeps the grips secure ;)

Yup they'll fit fine.

That said you may need to nudge your levers inboard a bit to accommodate the lock ons, (PS: you probably won't need the hairspray tip with lock ons either), but it's a simple case of loosening, nudging and tightening up, easy peasy
That's good then

Yeah thought I'd get lock on ones as I presume they don't need a special bar? They just clamp onto any bar?

Definitely do nudge the brake/shifters levers in bound a little, otherwise the lock-on part may over shoot the bars by a mm or so and eventually may end being banged off if you're like me.

Nothing special needed though, just a basic allen key to tighten them onto the handlebar to stop the grips from slipping around.
