Hi, a newbie to the forums and a return to cycling to me after many many years. I am looking at a road bike/hybrid and have come across an Apollo Mayhem but can find ery very few references to it. Does anyone have any experience/comments ?.
MAny Thanks.

Apollo are Halfords own-brand, and the Mayhem is not by any means a road bike.
It's a cheap MTB, and they've not been made for a few years now.
I'd only get it if it's in good nick and very cheap. Like £40 cheap or so.
Even then I'd be a bit wary...

Keep looking. Take some time going around your local bike shops and asking what second-hand bikes they've got. I found a superb Peugeot road bike in almost new condition for £150 at a local shop, far better quality than I could have afforded new.

You won't - it must have been 15 years old but it was so little used that the paintwork was pristine and the tyres still had the whiskers on them. It had been over-oiled, which had protected it and once I had removed all the commuting paraphernalia and cleaned it I found a gleaming bike underneath. I sold it two years later for the same price.

BTW it was a Peugeot Sport 3000, in metallic red. Quite nice looking but old-fashioned. It did the job and is now in the possession of a happy bloke in Cockermouth who loves it.

I have an apollo bike, now it just sits doing nothing, it's weight doesn't help and the cheap components really do make it more difficult to fix minor problems.
