Anyone tried these?

Hi,

Ive never looked into cycling shorts but a few people have recomended padded ones to ease the ache i often get after long bike rides.

the prices vary incredibly so I'm not sure if something like these http://www.chainreactioncycles.com/Models.aspx?ModelID=36568 would be good enough or is it worth spending a few extra quid to keep my parts in good health.

I've not tried those specific shorts Theo, but I am a fan of padded shorts. There's a good value range of clothes at Wiggle - the dhb brand. Here's a link to the shorts on there...

They get regularly good write up in cycling mags for good value. I've got quite a bit of stuff from this brand and like it a lot.

if you want to experiment karrimor through sports direct or decathlon are both cheap, I have karrimor shorts and decathlon jerseys

Any of these from Tenn Outdoors are good buys. I, being of a fuller figure, find bib shorts more comfortable.

Bib shorts are the way forwards! Fuller figure or not, they a load more comfortable than other shorts. I got mine via the 'for sale' section on here. Check it out regularly as people often put kit on there.

Second dhb shorts from Wiggle, They're just fine and their bib-shorts are even better. Good stuff/VFM for a Newbie and they last well too.

I agree with the Tenn-outdoors stuff, they're clothes are nice and cheap but still are a pretty damn good quality. I've been sing their stuff for some time now and so far have had no complaints...

Padding is the way to go, even for racing in my opinion.
I am a shorts lover as well, not fussy on bibs.
Find shorts cooler and less restrictive.

Recently I have been riding in specialized shorts, think these are good quality for the money.
