Just wondered if anyone had subscribed to the mag recently and got the free Altura Nevis jacket from them?.

I usually buy CW every Thursday so it would make sense to subscribe to it anyway. Was going through the motions last night of subscribing and grabbing the jacket but I can't see at any stage where you can pick what colour jacket you want sent?. The illustration regarding the offer shows a blue coloured jacket but I would rather have the yellow/hi vis one. Is it possible to specify what colour you require at some stage of the subscription process?.

Ta.

Is cycling weekly any good?
I subscribed to cycling plus when they had a free pair of rudy project sunglasses on offer, I have since lost them but wouldn't bloody let me unsubscribe. I switched to mountain biking UK, but that is even worse - out of the frying pan in to the fire,it's absolutely shite. it's aimed at kids, and fairly shallow/none-too-bright ones at that.
So I'm switching back to cycling plus. Unfortunately it won't let me switch to cycling weekly as it must be run by a different company.

i wonder though how long you have to subscribe to it for in order to get the jacket?

Read the T's&C's but usually a year.

Saying you want to cancel your subscription inside this period because you've lost your specs doesn't seem too unfair !!

RSV - the Nevis is RRP about £50 I think so it's a decent freebie, particularly if you read the mag anyway.
My wifey has one, it's very waterproof but pretty thick and heavy - as a warm & waterproof commuting jacket, say, it would be great, but too big to simply screw-up and shove in your jersey pocket 'just in case'.

I just hope you get one though - I bet the T's&C's say that they reserve the rights to send you something else if these run out : I subscribed to Cycling Weakly myself several years ago for the freebie bike bag.
They sent a letter saying they'd run-out so enclosed a kit bag instead - not what I wanted, pretty poor quality and (other than being the wrong shape and not padded) probably big enough to get a wheelless bike into : I've never used it...

Cheers for the info folks. I would be using it for commuting mainly so the bulk doesn't really bother me. Just how breathable is the Nevis, pretty good?. I have an Altura Compton jacket that I got free with my Cycling Plus subscription but it is pretty hopeless when it comes to letting the sweat evaporate.

@bonj - CW is a pretty decent read most weeks. I must be honest and say I buy it just to get a weekly cycling "fix" of reading. It's kinda like MCN ( Motorcycle News ) which I get every Wednesday. Once you start buying it regularly if sort of becomes a habit whether you are interested in reading it or not!.

That said, Dr Hutch always makes me chuckle and I look forward to his pages every week.

As you said Andy, if you buy CW every week anyway, the offer is a pretty decent one so I think I will go for it. Maybe you have to get further into the registering for subscription process before it asks you to specify size/colour etc?. I dunno.

I have a blue Nevis. I think it is worth the £50 rrp, so for free I think it is a great deal. It is very comfortable and I even use it if I am going running on a wet day.

i looked at signing up and noticed that there are 2 subscription rates one with the freebee and one with out. the freebee one is £60 per 6 months and the non freebee is £87.50 for the whole year. as you have to sign up for a year the freebee isn't that free! but i guess you can get a £50 jacket for £32.50.

I see 120 quid for a 50 quid jacket and 12 months of CW....which makes 12 months of CW 80 quid witha f'free' jacket. Unless I am missing something - the CW site isn't particularly clear in its design. Still cheap if you read CW weekly.

I emailed IPC Publishing and asked about the colours of the jacket and availability.

Received a reply saying they were unable to inform me of the colours available and it was therefore not possible to specify a colour to be delivered.
