not that i've got one you understand but in the 'cycle mag' they've always got a rather large ad inside and the prices seem rather splendid (around 1k ish) opinions, thoughts, outright lies?

I've no personal experience with Ribble, but word is that they make up for their keen prices with awful customer service. I wouldn't want to deal with any company that didn't value their customers.

I bought a Ribble 7005 Audax bike a couple of years ago, and I had no issues, but I only live 20 minutes away so I wasn't relying on them dispatching it etc. The bike was superb and I regret ever selling it TBH.

However, a recent attempt to purchase goods in person turned into a disaster that means they have now lost me as a customer.

Google Ribble customer services and it'll scare you to death, but remember that it's only usually the people who feel aggrieved that write reviews, the ones who are perfectly happy don't usually bother.

So my summary would be that the products themselves are good, you'll see hardly anything but Ribble on the roads round here from now until April! But it seems to be a lottery as to what sort of customer service you receive.

I had to send my bike, minus wheels and seat for easier packaing because of a so-called bottom bracket that hadn't been faced properly (a misdiagnosis by LBS) and they were actually pretty good. They sent me photos of what it should look like and what mine looked like. And they told me what was actually wrong and sent the bike back free of charge.

Have heard some bad stuff regarding their customer service but the bike is fantastic - Ribble New Sportive on SRAM Rival and Mavic Ksyrium Elites.

The older I get, the faster I used to be ...
Have a 7005SL Veloce. Went to shop (alas no more - wearhouse now) to be measured (recommended), ordered online. Minor adjustment to spec agreed. Good communications. Delivered on time. No problems. Good bike. Great value. Their carbon bikes seem to consistently come top, or near, 'best bike for £x' reviews.

Bought a few things from them this year. No complaints. Orders have been quickly sent, will use them again.
Prices are good too. Tempted to get a Ribble bike in the next year or so, seem good value.

I was very tempted by their carbon, but PLanet X is only an hour or so drive for me so went there, was dealt with by very friendly staff, and bought an SL Pro instead.
I'd also bought (and returned for xchange) gear from PX before so knew they were good to deal with, whereas a few gripes about Ribble had put me off them a little.

Spent weeks on their bike builder building myself a bike and looking at reviews which mostly commented on the bad customer service which was starting to put me off a little but decided to give them a try anyway, so on the day I was going to order I had a couple of queries so tryed phoning them 3 times with no reply.

So i bought something else and wont be using ribble ever!

Used to have a road bike with an alloy Ribble frame, lovely bike and I enjoyed riding it immensely, much better than the Specialized frame I rode on for a few months after it got stolen in my opinion.

From what I've seen of the same advert, it looks like a damn good deal, if I'd got the money I'd be rather tempted.

I have had reasonable experiences shopping with Ribble. I have ordered lots of bits of kit that have always been delivered (eventually). They do not have the ultra quick turn around of some on line shops, but their prices and quality are generally good. I normally allow 1 to 2 weeks for delivery and buy urgent stuff elsewhere.

I had a Scandium road frame for a couple of years that was a perfectly competent bike. It didn't set my heart on fire, but it commuted through a couple of winters and did service as a crit racer. It was only retired after an accident with a piece of wire ripped off the rear deraileur hanger and I discovered that no one stocked replacement hangers.
