Was going to purchase a Boardman for £600 from Halfords but was wondering if any £1000+ bikes might be heavily discounted at the moment making them a better proposition ?

TIA,
Mike

I'll be heading down this route when I next buy a bike.

Best thing I can think of is going to all the loacl shops and trying to score a deal.

Failing that, if you know what you're looking for in a bike. a trawl of the interweb will yield some amazing discounts on end of line/end of season stuff. but they go quickly.

Does of course depend on if you are after a road / hybrid / mtn bike really.

I myself have a Marin Attack Trail mtn bike but just bought myself a new road bike from Wiggle - Focus Cayo 2008 for £999 which is about £300 of the list price and its a full carbon fibre bike with shimano ultegra groupset.

Seems one of the best deals around when looking on other sites.

Be interested to hear how you get on. Went round some of the LBS thinking that this would be a good time to get some deals, just before the 2009 stock comes in. There are nothing like as many deals as I was anticipating: possibly because the manufacturers are experiencing increased commodity costs, implying that next year's models may be as much as 20% more expensive. Also one dealer told me that the manufacturers are not going to produce as many bikes next year, with the result that this year's stock are holding their prices.
