If u look at this it will show u a direct comparison between all 3, and compair the prices of the two bikes which have pritty much identical parts except for some minor changes, if it is ur size (55cm) then yes it is good value for money, but dont try 2 make the bike fit you because it is a good deal, the better the sizing the better the riding.

Giant Defy 3 has a sora, group set which is worth less than the xenon and u also get more gears on the cassette on the xenon, the xenon is a compact (two rings at the fron a 34 and 50 tooth) where as the giant is a triple, unless u realy want the extra gear dont get a triple. I was realy unfit and was like i need a triple but went into the local bike shop and he gave me a lump of metal that was the same weight as the extra ring, i didnt want the extra ring after.
The giant with the sora only has a 9 sprocet cassette (the cogs on the back) where as xenon is 10, the more cogs the smother the changing.
Sora is also slightly clunky gear changes compaired to xenon i have herd.
The brakes and wheels are slighly better on the bianchi.
With the bianchi u get carbon rear stay and forks with kevlar inserts for a smother ride, where as giant is full aluminium and u will feel everything though ur arms.

How ever the giant is £300 cheaper!

Also what is the difference between this and the 105 2300

I know a little as I'm looking at the same bike but with the Tiagra group set. I only started to shop around a week ago but have already come to the decision that as long as I go for a major brand then all the bikes around this price bracket are similar value (i.e. you may get better wheels on one but the other will have better group set etc). I've narrowed my choice down to a the Bianchi (major brand) or a Planet X (smaller brand but more 'bang for your buck'). My other choices were Specialised and Trek, both are good bikes but I prefer the look and Italianess of the Bianchi. I've heard a few things about the Bianchi Nirone 7 wheels being a bit on the heavy side. It looks like the 105 is the first bike in the range that get an upgrade (i.e. better group set and better wheels than the Xenon). Also note that at the back on 2300 is an 8 speed, the Sora is a 9 sp, the Xenon is a 10sp, Tiagra is 9sp and 105 is 10sp. All worth adding into the mix...

Basically, the more expensive bikes are better. Better group set, better wheels etc. Also the different specs have different colours schemes (and it is important you like the look of the bike as well so that you want to take it out (and are happy being seen on it)). The bike itself seems to get a positive response from most people I talk to (hence the fact it is in my final 2). I suggest your next job is to take this and anything else you are thinking of for a quick test ride to make sure you are comfortable on it (I'm doing this on Monday).

Cheers

To break it down to the three specific models...

Xenon, i've had two with this groupset, transmission wise, they've been flawless. Wheels (WS32 rims) have been bomb proof, no problems. I see they've changed to crankset to a slightly different FSA model. The Mega Exo BB isn't the longest lasting and is probably the only bit i've had to replace on mine, how the Vero performs, i don't know.

105, i see they have fitted the Mega Exo triple on this one, as above, the BB isn't the strongest, but i wouldnt not buy one just on that fact. Wheelset is the Tiagra (WH-R500). I have these on another bike, again, bombproof, but they're not light or high quality wheels. They do flex a little if you get out of the seat and push along, but again, i wouldnt not buy the bike just for that fact. Obviously you get the 105 groupset which is better then Xenon.

2300. Only 8 speed, lesser quality wheels than the Xenon and 105.

In essence, the Xenon and 105 are fairly bombproof bikes. FSA BB's i'm not keen on, but they may not be any worse than any of the competition.
With the 2300, you're buying a good frame with, dare i say, lesser quality components. You could upgrade later but i'm not sure thats an economical way of doing it. I'm sure its an ok bike, but you sacrifice components for the price.
