Triple chainset.....when its on the front largest cog it runs fine-no noises................when its on the middle and lowest front cog it makes a light grinding noise

Check all the adjustments on the front and rear derailleur. It could be rubbing against font derailleur cages.

Sounds like the chain is in some way fouling the none engaged rings, i.e. when the chain is engaged on the small ring it's rubbing the middle ring, likewise when engaged on the middle ring it's rubbing the inside of the top ring. The reason there is no noise when the chain's on the big ring, is there is no surface available for the chain to foul. Could be as simple as an excessive build up of grease & dirt on the chain which has transferred to the chainring surfaces attracting grit particles. Degrease & lightly oil, if this doesn't work sounds like an alignment problem.

The grinding might be because the inner rings are worn. Have you changed the chain recently?
