Cubester and I both suffered a couple of visits from the fairy on the last few days of our holiday. Cubester's Maxxis Minions are a tight fit on his rims, and so a good deal of swearing and levering was required to get his tyres fixed. Used new inners on both after the patches let go in the heat (it was in the high 30s) and on the last day he rode back to us to tell me both tyres were flat again.

Today I decided to fix both tyres so patched the front and found a thorn corresponding with the hole in the innertube. I diligently levered that out and put it all back together. I then went to fetch the rear wheel and when I got back the front was flat.

I took it off and found another new hole, and a corresponding thorn, which i levered out. A check of the rest of the tyre found a half a dozen other thorns. I took these out and put it all back together again, and after ten minutes it was flat again.

I then scrubbed the entire outer tyre clean, and got it in the light armed with a pair of tweezers and a sharp knife. It's a Super Tacky 40a compound tyre, so manages to hide small thorns well in and amongst the tread knobs. An hour of tweezing and digging found a further 40 or so thorns.

The rear is a harder compound, and a newer tyre, so wasn't quite as good at hiding the little b'stards, and it hadn't taken as many on board, just 24.

Fingers crossed, but so far I seem to have found them all, but time will tell!!!!

I saw recently there there is a record for the longest track stand.
It's currently 21.34 seconds, I can certainly do better that and I bet some could do 100x more than that.
