Anyone from around selby/york area for a ride?

I've being thinking, I fancy a ride southwards for once, and Clifton CC never, ever go south, just north, east, or west, well actually they sometimes go south, spurn point etc...

Marinyork gave me a route, and I've planned one on www.bikehike.com

Some recommendations on changing it might be good, I think that bit through sheffield would be abit of a grind, all the traffic and traffic lights I guess and seems abit windy, lots of junctions.

I'd rather do it with a group of people, make the miles go by much easier and conserve abit of energy from time to time.

Unsure exactly on when to do it but I was thinking sometime in the week but of course everyone is at work then, maybe on Saturday? Depends if there is any interest though.

Thanks
Will.

114 miles:ohmy:. And hills. I think that may be a bit much for me but I'm sure there will be others interested.

Yea it is challenging, over 7000ft ascent according to bikehike, it'd be challenging for me too, if anyone is interested in a similar distance but minimal hills then post too as I could do that, the bit under hull, lincolnshire? is ok, could have a ride to pleasure island in cleathorpes ;), I would not mind a ride to spurn point mind you as I've never done it, I was still in Manchester when my club did it

Anyway any interest in the ride I posted or if anyone would be interested in something of similar distance but flat or rolling please let me know here, it'd be great to do a group ride.

Thanks
Will.

That looks a damn good ride out and it would be refreshing to go somewhere I've never ventured before. I do not really know the area so cannot suggest anything for a change in the route though.

As for a date, I get as many days off during the week as I do weekends but I always seem to have too many commitments too, just depends on my shift.

If you fancy a 100 mile ride from Hull down to Spurn & round & about try this link
3 of us did the ride on a rather frosty January morning, but I'd be up for doing it again. probably skip the last mile or 2 down to Spurn as the road is an absolute pig to cycle on
Nice & flat, leasurly pace & few tea stops en-route

I'd like that but I cant really get down to hull

For 95 miles the loops looks allot smaller than that :s.

If anyone around york and selby area goes on long runs, flat, hilly, uber hill, just 60-90 miles, please let me know as I'd be interested, tomorrow I am planning on doing this:

If I went on another Soltydog ride if you cycled to Drax village I'd quite happily give you a lift there and back with the bike.

Spurn sounds a good idea too, providing I'm not working.

>>>probably skip the last mile or 2 down to spurn<<<

Is it OK if I walk that bit as I'm a bit old for skipping and beside's it won't do my cleats much good

Thankins marinyork I'd be happy to do that , allthough it'd have to be before sometime in september as I go back to Manchetser then.

Went down to Spurn yesterday, and its as Soltydog says, the last part is a pig. It may be OK for mountain bikes etc but a road bike is a no no. The road is very bumpy, rutted and covered in sand in places which may not do your bearings much good. After a couple of hundred yards we sacked it and carried or bikes back. Assured by a motorist that the road improves a couple of hundred yards further on but we did not take the chance.

I've done it ok on a road bike, just because I'd never been to the end before. The sand does stop but the bumpy worn concrete continues.
