Have a look on the cyclingtimetrials site http://www.cyclingtimetrials.org.uk/Home/tabid/36/Default.aspx and follow Begin Time Trialling for a list of clubs offering turn-up-and-ride events.

Give it a go to see if you like it - YOU WILL.

Perhaps see what information local cycling clubs have on their websites- sometimes they'll have details of their time-trial leagues (if they run one) and perhaps a map of their course etc.

If you are quick there might be a chance to turn up and try one out before the end of the season (there are Open time trials organised pretty much all year round- although far fewer in the winter- but informal club events are often held on weekday evenings and generally stop around mid-late August as the evenings draw in).

Mr Ponting has given the OP the correct information.

If you go to the CTT (cycling time trials) website at

http://www.ctt.org.uk/Default.aspx?&gv498__gvac=2&tabid=118&gv498__gvff1=8&gv498__gvfl1=8

You will find there a list of clubs in the CTT district which contains Reading. Lots of clubs to try there.

Plus, one is Reading CC. A link to the club website is

http://www.readingcyclingclub.com/

But apart from Reading CC, there are whole list of clubs affiliated to CTT, which are involved in time trials. See what other clubs are in your area. Contact a few. You may well find that even if a club isn't doing a specific 'turn-up-and-ride' for newcomers, they will let you try out the sport by joining in a couple of their club events, for you to see if you want to continue.

When I used to live in Reading, didn't they use the A4, two places, one from Sonning towards Maidenhead and also from J12 Theale towards Thatcham ?...... Sunday mornings was popular I think.

Whereabouts in Reading are you?
