Unfortunately, many moons ago, I never thought of having panniers, so when I bought my Felt Z85, I didn't know about mounts for panniers.

Been searching for days, & this is the only thing I can find that will work for a bike with no mounts. I was looking to know if anyone has used one? It's quite expensive. I'm planning on a short tour in a few weeks with my brother to test out 'touring' as I really want to do it for longer, but feel like I should do a few test runs...I've never camped either, so that's exciting.

Bascially I'll only be carry a tent, sleep bag & a few things. No cooking etc, not on this first trip.

Has anyone any other ideas of cheaper ways to put a rack on a mount-less bike?

No experience of that rack, but there are a few different options you could try.

First would be to attach a normal rack using a QR mount and p-clips

Secondly you could get a seat-post clamp with rack eyelets (use QR mount or p-clips for the bottom if needed)

Thirdly you could use a caliper brake rack like a tubus fly (again use QR mount or p-clips for the bottom if needed)

Otherwise how about getting a Carradice bagman and Camper Saddle Bag?

These have been out a few years now - has anybody got any direct experience of them? I would like to get a front rack to easily swap between bikes including a 20" folder and on paper they'll do the job. They are fairly widely available now - so someone must be using them. Also they are not cheap at ~£55 quid for the rack and ~£20 quid for the side frames, but I seem to remember they were a ton plus at one point. They are looking like a bit more like a practical option rather than an expensive new toy.
