Any idea what this bike could be

I have no idea. My ride buddy (BottomCrank of this parish, owns this) and, although it says Campag on the frame, he suspects that this is not so.
It's a nice bike whatever, but he wondered if anyone could give an idea by the look of the thing. He picked it up in Holland, I believe for 400 guilders.

The lugs and dropouts look similar AFAICR to my 1983 Falcon (then part of Elswick Hopper, so it could be a related brand) but I suspect that chromed chainstay might identify it for someone.

Good idea. Also, if the wheels might be original, are there any dates or codes on the hub shells?

It's a brute of a bike but I've managed to turn it over (got covered in oil too)

Looks like a chainstay protector pad to me. Pretty common after-sale accessory.

Could one Italian though, at least the bars are italmanubri "ITM" unless my eyes deceive me !

It's a tall frame and the seat-tube looks quite laid back too....looks nicely made though, so I don't think cheap.
