Any Brits heading for the 'Grand Depart' (the first few TDF stages) via Dover to Calais ferry?

Hi, I am Simon, a 19 year old who has just finished his A-levels.

This summer I plan on hitchhiking the entire TDF route with a tent on my back. Is anyone planning on heading over there for the first few stages (the Vendée department), via the Dover to Calais ferry? It would make my initial few days a hell of a lot easier if I found someone going directly there!

Another good luck from me - what a great project! When I was younger I hitched thousands of miles back and forth across France and the UK. Had loads of great adventures. I'll be at the roadside for at least one stage - 25ks before they arrive in Montpellier - I'll look out for you!

Nope not me.

But I live between the stage 7 finish and the stage 8 depart. I promise to give all hitch hikers I see on the day a lift!
