After riding for just under a year, I will finally (better late than never) be joining a group next week (road riding), are there any things, rules, newbie mistakes or etiquette I should be aware of.

I am really looking forward to getting out with a group, but as I havent ridden in a crowd before just want to make sure I dont knock someone off. The area in which I live is incredible for road and mountain biking (South Wales Valleys) and I therefore need to mix up being in and out of the saddle, and long climbs so want to ask beforehand.

Thanks in advance

There will be someone more experienced in a group willing to share his knowledge. You will have plenty of time to talk with as usually you start with moderate pace. Keep behind and look at the others. No worries...

Be predictable, don't use your brakes, ride in a straight line, don't stop pedalling, if you cant ride one handed and signal potholes (push left) etc don't try. It'll end badly.

and dont worry about being pro following wheels 2inch away one your first outting, itll end badly. But do build up to it once you know what you're doing, bunch riding is very exciting.
