"National Police Chiefs' Council ANPR

Public Engagement Survey

Police forces in England, Wales and Scotland are working to engage with members of the public around the use of Automatic Number Plate Recognition (ANPR).

Your views and experiences are vital to shaping a meaningful strategy for the use of ANPR in policing."

Lets just hope a load of villains don't fill in the survery.

And another thing. The NPCC are the trade associstion for chief officers. We don't let the AA forumlate the governments motoring policy, or McDonalds forumlate health polify, so why are these fools permittwd to have such sway in national policing policy?

I filled it in. It felt more like an application form right at the end, application to what I don't know, maybe to join the inmates at a nearby prison.

I filled it in, just out of curiosity.
Annoyingly, there was no question along the lines of "Do you consider ANPR to be a complete waste of time because any criminal with a bit of sense will be driving around on false plates, cloned from a similar vehicle?"
Back in the late 70's a friend got in with a bad group, he was only about 18 at the time with a wife & child, he worked for NCB where they were quite lax about attendance, sick days etc. (other people being clocked in & not turning up was a common thing). Anyway he was skipping work one day (although clocked in) & pulled into a petrol station with his mate to fill his car up, he mate jumped out & said that he'd go pay for the fuel.

Said mate comes running out of petrol station & tells friend to drive off, about 1/2 mile down the road the mate gives him £30 & says "Here you go here's your share" Friend still at this point hasn't worked out what has happened, Another mile down the road there is a Police car blocking the road, looking in the mirror he sees another Police car coming up behind him. Went down for 2 years, changed the whole course of his life not in a good way, wife wasn't waiting for him when he came back out, so not all criminals have sense.

It's not the job of the Police to make the law, but that doesn't stop them breaking it when it suits their purposes.
Bent coppers? Are there any that aren't?

Ah well, at least the story had a happy ending.
