Hello

I currently have Gatorskins on my road bike, Is it worth upgrading them to the Grand prix 4 season tyres for winter? I only use the bike at weekends and do around 80 - 100miles a ride on them.

Is there a noticeable difference in grip & puncture resistance?

Thanks for any advice & reccomendations

I use 4 seasons all year round, but gators are supposed to be a bit slippy.

4 seasons grip really well. Not worth the expense if just weekends though.

I commute every day on 4 seasons.

The older I get, the faster I used to be ...
I use Gatorskins all year round, winter and summer bikes, with no problems. With your sort of riding I don't see any point in changing them. The only thing I might do is change to some lighter tyres on the summer bike next spring - GP4000s's maybe.

Hi,

No point changing decent tyres. However regarding grip running tyres at optimum pressures
(or a little lower) with the front a little lower than the back will give best grip. In the summer
you could run them a little higher than optimum pressures for better rolling on nice tarmac.

I use GP 4 seasons and have found them great, really grippy - also had a very long puncture-free run on them too (until it ended). I then got back on my commute bike with whatever crappy tyres it came with, got caught in a rainstorm which turned the road very slippery, and went down sideways. Now planning to get some more 4 seasons for the commute bike - just don't feel safe without them!
