Hi all,

I am pretty good at tracking down unusual noises but a one I have at the moment has beaten me.

When I start cycling for the first few hundred metres I get a squealing , squeaking noise which then goes away. I have eliminated the drive chain and all symptoms appear to be the wheel bearings but after checking and servicing these, all appears to be in order.

Late last night on my commute home it was particularly bad and this morning I have checked the mudguards and sufficient clearance from the tyres also seems to be in order.

Has anyone else had a similar experience?

Probably something simple

I bet it's the rubber cup that protects the LH bearings on your rear wheel. It needs a bit of grease, preferably the white lithium type.

My rear Hope Pro Evo II squeaks. It was driving me mad, I was spinning the back wheel checking brake blocks and mudguards. Wasn't until I dropped the wheel out that I discovered it.
