So I've just spent a couple of weeks back using my backpack. I'd never noticed before how sweaty it made my back (even though it's a Deuter with the airflow thing) so I'm going back to my saddlebag which is a Carradice. This is fine in a way but I'd prefer something with compartments or inner pockets. The two outer pockets are taken up with tools and a cable lock but inside I'd like somewhere to put my ipad and phones etc.

Any ideas?

The Super C versions have a little pouch that hangs in front of the dowel - it's about right for some flat, smallish things.

Otherwise, I used to use a sort of "bag in bag" method, putting stuff I wanted separated in its own pouches or bags (I really like the Bagaboo tool pouch, and had one already, for example). If you're handy, you could probably make a servicable laptop sleeve (or adapt one) that would hang from the dowel.

In my regular hardcore ommuting days i also used to bag items separately, clothes/kit in one files/notebook in another. Laptops hadn't been invented!
Actually i still do it bery occasionally now with laptop but the journey is very short.

I think the 'bag in bag' approach or the diy method - cut up corrugated card, cheap laptop cover and fit inside - are the way to go.

Yeah I do that to a certain extent for example cufflinks etc go in a little ziplock bag. The saddlebag just seems to be missing the convenience that goes with the Deuter bag. Will continue to work on it

Thanks all
