Need for steeds
heres a bike I had for ages which was originally badged as a Claud Butler but the serial number is only 4 digits. I've spoken to the guys at Ellis's Briggs and they replied it looks like one of their frames but no further info yet.

Was toying with campy stuff but went for the trusted shimano 600 arabesque gear. Newish wheels and a stronglight crank to put on should make this a fine steed. Haven't fully decided on seat and handlebar covers yet but I may keep the wrights saddle and put some bespoke leather covers on the handlebars in brown.

New dual pivot long reach brakes on order so it won't get finished till next week at the earliest.

Need for steeds
Managed to get a couple of hours this morning to get some work done. Need to get a chain, set up gears and put on the matching leather handlebar covers then give it some miles.

If anyone has any idea what make this could be id appreciate any help. It's not an Ellis Briggs and I don't think it's a claud as there is only a 4 digit serial number. Also need to give it a weigh as it feels fairly light.

Also those tektro brakes seem a good upgrade and being netted didn't require drilling of the frame

Ok just weighed and coming in at 24lbs or just under 11kg. I'm happy with that.

@uphillstruggler im sorting matching leather covers for the handlebars. The wheels are Weizmann xr18 rear and mach1 front. I've used both of these on other bikes and are a cheap alternative that look fine on older bikes.[/QUOTE]

thanks Tony

I have a Peugeot that has the chrome rims and the resulting lack of braking so am looking for a suitable replacement that doesn't look out of place.
