I picked up this 1987 Repco Eurosport Tri-A this morning for not much money, it was hard to pass it by.
25 inch frame, Shimano 105 groupset, Biopace chainrings, 6 speed cluster, 36 spoke wheels, 80's 2 tone fade paintwork- right up my alley.
These were made for Repco by Nishiki, the frame being Tange Infinity and very well built.
Nishiki built bikes for other companies as well back then, they were well put together and nice to ride.
I think I'll respect the heritage of this one and keep it original.
It will get stripped down and cleaned, new cables and chain, new tyres and bar tape and that will be it.
My first serious road bike as a young bloke was a mid 80's Repco Nishiki Tri A with a full Shimano 600 group set so this feels very familiar and very special.

Very nice. I see quite a lot of Nishiki branded bikes down here, all good quality. They made an exclusive line for Dick’s Sporting Goods store in the states and that’s where most come from.

It sounds like Repco did what a lot of other bike companies did and sourced bikes from all over the place.

The green and white bike was Japanese built, this red and white one I restored for a mate is a 1988/89 model that was made by Giant and stickered as a Repco.

Just an update, I finally got around to finishing off my Repco Eurosport Tri-a.
I had intended to keep it completely original but the hoods of the brake levers were perished so fitted a nice set of Cinelli bars and Cinelli stem and some Shimano 600 tricolor levers.
Some spare new bar tape went on, the white ptobably won't stay clean for long.
A new longer seatpost made things a bit more comfortable as well.

A spare set of Mavic Open 4 CD 36 spoke wheels went on which upgrades it to a 7 speed from a 6 and gives slightly lower gearing.
All the parts I added were period correct so it feels like a nice, late 80's ride.
It's not really anything special but I'm really happy with the result.
