Exact details not clear yet. Victim was well known in NE cycling circles although as a fairly new member of my local club I didn't know him myself.

Given the mention of the impatient motorist in the report it's perhaps just as well that comments are closed.

As usual - the cyclist was in a collision with a vehicle rather than a vehicle colliding with a cyclist. Afterall - dead men cannot sue

Insisting on driving through a collision scene! That just beggars belief. Some people are not fit to be out in society, let alone drive a ton of metal about. Shame the off duty policeman didn't just arrest him, but I guess he was busy doing lots of other stuff. It sounds like he did a wonderful job until the emergency services got to the scene.
