It happens on both of my bikes, so suspect it's not the pedals - but I have a real job getting clipped in with my left foot.

I'd had some mad problems with float a while ago and on investigation found that the cleat bolts had come loose, so tightened them up as much as I could, so no more wobble.

But since then I've had a real job getting clipped in first time with that shoe.

I've examined and compared it to the cleat on the right shoe and cannot see any physical difference.

Any ideas? Anyone come across this before?

Just bought my first pair of clip less pedals shimano m324, and i too am having a slight problem clipping in the left foot. I guess my problem is just down to inexperience though.

Just a hypothesis to explore: When you tightened it up really tight you may have compressed the sole a bit, and now the gap is marginally smaller between the cleat edges and the sole of the shoe. This is more likely on a rubber soled shoe like a Taho or similar.

Try undoing the cleats and shimming them with a piece of plastic or whatever.

Cleats shouldn't be done up too tight (but tight enough) as you can deform the sole of the shoe and/or the cleat - I suspect this is what has happened.
