Hi there i have only recently purchased a boardman cx comp and have noticed when standing and putting some power into riding in the top crankset gear the chain sounds like its rubbing on something it's not the detailed because I can adjust that in halfs thru the shifters, when looking the other day is noticed it looked like the chain may be bouncing and hitting the lower gear on the crankset as there were marks on the side, I find it quite annoying and I am new to cycling so any help would be appreciated

Cheers

Most likely frame flex. Some bikes are worse than others, my pre C2C Bianchi did it a lot, my C2C Bianchi didnt at all.
May be worth checking the chainwheels are straight, no slight warping, but its probably frame flex.
Annoying, distracting, basically it happens when the materials used , or the design cant cope with the forces being put through them.
Your bike wont fall apart, its moderately common.

No it's got a clear plastic protective layer on the stays is it worth fitting a proper protector wil this eliminate this
won't eliminate anything but it will simply stop the paint getting chipped or rubbed away in that area

many people with mercedes benz sprinters or other nice vehicles they really care about will wrap either just the bonnet or even the whole vehicle in a clear wrap to protect from stone chips

Your description is not very clear so I cannot really get a precise picture of what is happening. I don't see how ' the chain may be bouncing and hitting the lower gear on the crankset'. Anyway it shouldn't be doing it and as the bike is new you should take it back to where you bought it from and ask them to look at it.
