My new phone plays the general notication sound when it sends a text, i cant for the life of me see why it does this and i would like to turn it off

Or something similar. You can change the incoming message sound as well.

tried that , thanks anyway you can turn notifications on /off but cant see anything that turns outgoing sounds off

Try settings within the messaging app itself, rather than general phone settings

I just checked my phone and thought you were right, but then I scrolled down and found it!

i have turned off outgoing alert but it still does it

done that it just stops a little beep ,but still plays the default notification sound i have set for incoming texts etc

default app that comes installed with the phone

Been doing some digging its a known fault might take it back
