Well, I was meant to be doing the round the island race yesterday but last weekend the boat was damaged and it ruled us out.

So I hatched a plan, yesterday I did the half distance route at the UK Cycling events long one event. 66hilly miles done

Then I drove up to Peterborough and today have done the 112 mile flat our in the fena event

I'm so happy I can't believe I managed it. Today was my first 100 miler, in fact my previous distance record was set the day before at 66 miles!!

2 years ago I was 21 st and got out of breath walking up a flight of steps, now I'm 12st and just did that.

As Adidas say, impossible is nothing.

Hope you all achieved your goals this weekend.

Nice one and on the weight loss too, impressive.

I did the 112m FOITF too. First 100 miler for me too, very happy with my average 17.3mph, although that straight section along the river/head wind nearly done me in!

My average was 17.1 which I couldn't believe.

That road was crazy, was it me or did it go on for about 10 miles, dead straight into a head wind.

I cut the hedge, and didn't kill the mother-in-law when she came round!

Sounds like you had a great time - well done!

For my part, I went out twice with the club and us "ladies" are hatching a plan to get together for a crash course on bike maintenance after we had to deal with a broken mudguard (fixed with bailer twine in the end - I'm always prepared!) and a jammed chain.

Yeah mate that's awesome. I managed my longest ride to date. 60 odd miles with a little bit of climbing thrown in. Was pretty pleased with myself and felt I had more in the tank.

Thanks everyone. Still buzzing about it all. And amazingly I can walk okay today!

When the cycle computer rolled past 100 I started cheering and punching the air like I'd won the tour de France, bet the people just behind me thought I was having some kind of fit!!

Just got to think of the next challenge now!

Impressive, 100mi is a big distance.

My personal achievement was to climb Staples Lane on my 42T ring without resorting to the granny ring, which I couldn't do last year. It's only about 8% & I just can't figure out why it's so hard.
I also knocked off ~10mins off my '35 mile' route that also takes Newlands Corner which I hadn't attempted since last year.

I'm mid-40's and returned to cycling a couple of years back and though I had reached a plateau, so any improvements are a good thing. In my teens used to TT 25mi in ~1H15mins, the Olympic TT route goes past the end of my road  and I can't get much below 1H35mins - it is soooo demoralising.

I'm only competing against myself these days.
