Watched this the other day, well worth a look if you're into bike porn. Not just MTBs as the name suggests, but something for all regards bike history/development

One thing I'd like to clarify. People like Ritchey say they were the first to do mountain biking, but no, it was me and my old school mates.
We'd go down the local tip and ride down slopes with our modified clunkers, cowhorn bars and all that stuff.

If Ritchey came over our way, I'd say 'Oi, Lionel, stick to making pop records, and leave the MTB stuff to us'

Anyways, enjoy the vid.

There is a bike shop in Carnforth (used to be a Raleigh dealership). The old guy who owns it (still I think) kept a little bike museum under the shop. If you google the bike shop (also a car parts shop) then perhaps he still has it. Ir you are into Raleigh bikes of old then it is a good display, if he still has it. There are rarities such as IIRC the golden 100 years celebration bike. Apparently Raleigh made 100 of them on its centenary and gave them to their biggest and favourite dealers. This guy got one that way and they simply do not come on the market so you are not likely to see one other than in the shop.

BTW a former mate was living in California when mountain biking started out there. He got one and imported it with his property when he moved back to the uk with his family as a kid. It was probably one of the first US made early MTBs to make it to the UK. It was literally right at the beginning and one of the first commercial mountain bike brands and models!!
