Gilbert again. He is having some season.
Sorry FM - I'm posting on another forum about racing. Gilbert is such a powerfull rider on uphill finishes it's almost scary. Did you see AndyS get overtaken on the climb? It was as if he was standing still! Those Dutch roads are bloody awfull for road racing though - looks more like an obstacle course sometimes.
What's next? The Fleche, no?
Actually, I almost started a general racing thread in here before the spring classics started, so we can comment about even the minor races without starting a thread each time for summat only two or three blokes are interested in. We could use it for general snippets of racing news too. What do you think?

I tend to stick away from spoilers until I've watched the race; it was a good one though and after it I decided to go for a spin myself so didn't comment either.

What a scary place to race! I was watching the bunch getting squeezed as the road narrowed, and riders were banging into each other and the thought had just come into my head that something was going to happen when BANG - down they went!
All that street furniture, and loads of signs on poles and little bollards dotted about at the sides of the road where riders head to try to escape the crush.
Obviously the pro cyclists' union isn't super hot on H&S or they'd refuse to race in those conditions!
As for the actual race - another super-impressive performance by Gilbert! Is he riding Flèche Wallonne as well as Liège–Bastogne–Liège and if so, do you think he can win both of those races as well?

Racing fans are very active over on BikeRadar but there are some very opinionated people over there. Much of the time they get into slanging matches or get sidetracked into arguments about doping.

I used to get more involved in the racing forum and also the races but in general the interest seems to have dropped off unless there is a drug issue and then everybody and his dog jumps in!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
