Am i getting a fat A**e?

Finding it difficult to get lycra shorts that fit

I have a 31 " waist and if i buy padded shorts that are medium 32-34 they feel snug , and look tight around the thigh as well.

I do tend to buy at the lower end of the price range, do the dearer brands give you more room or is it just my legs and behind muscles getting chunky?

I have noticed that despite needing to tighten my belts some trousers are now too tight especially in the hip/arse area.

I thought one of the major differences between differently priced Lycra clothes is the more expensive the more Lycra it contains and therefore the more stretchy it is.
